Gorjeio

The green parrots have long since become part of Cologne’s skyline. Once carried here from the south, they have made a new home for themselves between concrete and treetops. Their calls blend with the sounds of the city, their bright plumage flashes above rooftops and streets, and their presence has become a

symbol of disruption and the exoticisation of the unfamiliar body.

Out of this tension emerged the dance production GORJEIO (Birdsong/PT). The performance invites audiences to a unique open house—an “integration programme” in which humans are invited to learn from the parrots what it means to become part of a new community.
