The New Silicon Valley
THE NEW SILICON VALLEY presents a future in which the human body itself becomes a mine: bones turn into gold, and data is extracted like raw material. Introduced through the promises of the CEO and the voices of C.MIB’s customer service, the audience encounters members of this future society. Through their personal accounts, they experience the new technology up close.
Inspired by the mining histories of the Ruhr region, the production combines science fiction with a solarpunk aesthetic and a touch of techno-feudalism. Sound, choreography, and digital performance intertwine to form a poetic dystopian narrative about extractivism, power, and resistance. With humour, irony, and migrant perspectives, the piece reveals the darker sides of technological progress—and asks which bodies ultimately pay the price for digital utopias.
